Remembrance Day
Our class was responsible for planning and hosting this year’s Remembrance Day Assembly. We had a discussion about what we would like to include in the program and then set about to carry out our plan.
In the end, we had student MC’s, class chosen videos, class recitations of “In Flanders Fields” and “Why Wear A Poppy”. We had also written postcards to serving soldiers and veterans and some of those were shared. The class also learned and sang the song “Oh Danny Boy” with the help of Mr. Schellenberger.
I am very proud of our grade 5 students for the work they did on this Assembly. We had 100% participation from the setting up of the gym to the performances on the day. Well done!
Here are some of the videos we looked at as we were making our choices as to which ones to use. We liked all of them, but only used a couple of them as the Assembly program was quite full as it was. All of the videos give us a reason to pause and think on the good life we have here .
